Far apart but happy together
So, you’ve found that special person, but there’s one small problem: you live far away from each other. You’ve probably heard plenty of people tell you that long-distance relationships are difficult and that they often simply don’t work. However, the same can be said for relationships that are not long-distance ones! Love takes some effort and compromise, but if you both feel you belong together, there are ways to make it work.
Because long-distance relationships present a unique set of challenges to couples, here are some ways that two hearts can stay together even when they are far apart.
Define what you are Whether you met your partner on the eHarmony dating site or through a mutual friend, you need to be clear about what you both want from the relationship. Presumably neither of you will want the relationship to remain a long-distance one, so establish some long-term goals to help give you focus when you’re missing each other.
Communication Communication is important in every relationship, but in a long-distance relationship it isn’t just a matter of discussing the relationship and your feelings. It is also a way to be present in each other’s lives. Set aside time every day to catch up on the details of each other’s lives.

Visit Some long-distance relationships require more travel than others. If your partner lives in Glasgow and you live in Liverpool, you could be in for quite a lot of travel. It’s all very well choosing a midway point to meet up, as exploring new places together is a great way to strengthen your bond. However, if you have exhausted all the Liverpool dating options there is no harm in trying a long distance relationship.
Maximise your time together One of the advantages of a long-distance relationship is that you really appreciate the time you do spend together. When your partner comes to visit, you should block out your schedule and try to get time off work. Manage your time so you can enjoy your time together. When that special someone has to leave, you’ll have plenty of time for everything else.
Source Plan ahead No one can predict the future and plans can always change, but it’s important for you to look ahead and get some idea of how long you’ll be separated. Discuss the likelihood of one of you moving and how far in the future that might be. Every relationship presents challenges, but if you are both willing to work at it, distance is an obstacle the two of you can handle.
