Many
people who are in a relationship need not always be together. They may
live in different cities, states or even different countries for that
matter. However it is not necessary that just because they don't live
together, they have to put an end to their relationship. They can still
choose to continue to be committed to each other, by what is known as a
long-distance relationship of LDR. Therefore a long-distance
relationship is one in which a couple is separated from each other by
distance.
There
could be various reasons for a long-distance relationship. Sometimes
our work requires us to relocate and we need to move to another place.
Or maybe our education may require us to move. Another major reason for
long-distance relationships is online dating. The internet has sure
made a lot of things possible, and internet relationships or online
relationships is one of them. You can meet various people from
different places via online dating websites and if your lucky, then
this may develop into something more serious, leading to a
long-distance relationship.
A
long-distance relationship is not the end of the world. Technology has
come to our aid and using various devices such as cell phones, the
internet etc it is possible to maintain a long-distance relationship
and keep the love alive, so to say. Moreover online dating is so common
now. Emails, instant messaging or chatting, video-conferencing has made
communication easy.
Admitted,
there are challenges for people in long-distance relationships. But
then again, which relationship does not face challenges, right? If both
partners in a long-distance relationship are clear in terms of what
they want and expect, there's no distance that can stand between them.
While
a long-distance relationship can be quite a challenging one, it's not
an impossible one. Dedication, effort and interest from both sides, can
sure make a long-distance relationship a long-lasting one, after all
'Absence does make the heart grow stronger', doesn't it?
