Most of the relationships I've had on my life have been through the internet, aka Long Distance Relationships. I've only had one local relationship, but that one ended causing me severe heartache.

Recently, within the past couple months I met someone through a forum and we pretty much hit it off right away. We talked like old friends who haven't seen or heard from each other in years. As we continued talking our relationship became really strong and we could literally talk about anything to one another. But as time passed the flame we once had slowly went . Now our conversations are filled with long periods of silence barely saying anything to each other. I think it may be due to the fact that we started off too strong too fast.

In a couple weeks they're leaving to where they wont have computer access, but we're going to continue to write each other through letters.

I really do care about this person and sometimes I even get the infamous "butterflies" when we talk, but I somehow get the feeling that our relationship isn't going to be how it once was and we're going to continue to just be friends. It may seem selfish, but the thought of being just friends with this person really pains me.

I'm not sure if I should keep contact with this person or just save myself the heartache and call it off.

If its going to hurt if you stop what you have, then the answer is simple. dont.
ok, things might go down hill, but on the other hand, it could carry on the way it is or even get better, you dont know until you try. i dont see the harm in continuing your relationship if its going to make you unhappy to end it.
good luck with it all =]

It is hard enough to make local relationships work, but having miles, states, and sometimes even an ocean between you makes it even more difficult. However, successful long distance relationships can and do exist. It will survive as long as you are willing to work it out. Here's how to give yours every chance to survive and thrive.

Hi

If the idea of being just friends is killing you and you can do something about it - Do It.

How often is it that you find a person you can talk to like this and if you let him go, you'll regret it and hate yourself for it after.

Go for it Smile
