I've been reading up on LDRs lately and I've found one commonality among almost all of them that end. There is no set deadline. I'm not a relationship expert or anything, but from observation I think there should be a deadline set within the first few months of a LDR. Whether that be to end the LDR or have someone move, there needs to be some kind of end in sight. People need physical contact and no matter how much you love someone, you cannot be in a relationship that is long distance for the rest of time. It won't work. With that said, I just wanted to tell of an example of what happened to my boyfriend and I.
We met on Second Life and had been dating about 4 months when everything went downhill. The problem was we were both becoming frustrated from not being with each other. The second problem was that we had failed to set a deadline for when our distance would end and he was starting to wonder if it ever would. The solution was we decided that by next summer I would move to be with him and we'd get an apartment together. Now we're saving for our apartment and I'm excited because I have a new chapter in my life to look forward to, and he's happy that I'll be there for him physically every day in about a year. We no longer argue about things as much because we're both on the same page and we have something to look forward to in the future. So please, set a deadline, it could help save your relationship.
