Researchers in the department of
Psychology at Queen’s University (Ontario, Canada) have recently
completed a study about Long Distance Dating Relationships (LDDRs).
Very little research has been done in this area, and previous studies
have had conflicting results. Some studies have suggested that those in
LDDRs report equal or greater relationship satisfaction, intimacy and
love (compared to individuals NOT in LDDRs). Furthermore, research has
suggested that couples in LDDRs break up less often than those in
geographically close relationships (GCRs). However, other research has
found conflicting results, making it difficult to making any conclusive
statements concerning the well-being of couples in LDDRs. Despite the
lack of research on LDDRs, approximately 30-43% of college students
report being in an LDDR, thus making it an important area for further
investigation. Read more |
