My boyfriend and I met while we were both studying abroad in Japan. He's from the United States and I'm from Australia. Right now, he's back home while I'm staying in Japan for another half a year. We've been apart for 2 months now, and it's been difficult the first few weeks. Knowing other exchange students who are also in long distance relationships (either because they're from different countries and met in Japan or because they had to leave home to go on exchange) are a great encouragement. On the other hand, my mother tells me that this will not last because we're from different countries. I will see him again next year when he comes to Australia and this thought is what sustains me whenever I miss him.

it won't. If you make it happen, it'll happen.

There are going to be some difficult decisions to be made in the future but the only reason why it wouldn't work would be if you don't want it to or are discouraged enough by others to think it won't. If you make it happen, it'll happen.
