My boyfriend lives in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. We met while he spent a semester in the UK at the beginning of 2009 on a study abroad scheme at my university, and fell head over heels for each other. The scheme ended and he left at the end of June, and I followed as quickly as I could! We now see each other for virtually all of our college holiday time. He graduates at the end of this academic year, and will be working hard to get a work visa to come and be with me permanently. We've already discussed engagement and marriage and it will hopefully not be far off. The only trouble I have is adjusting poorly every time one of us leaves. It hurts so bad. But I have faith and I know eventually we will be together permanently. My best piece of advice would definitely be to set a date, not just for when you will next see each other, but for when you intend the distance to end. It's the best way of making it feel like you can handle it.
