Eric and I\'ve been dating almost a year. He is in Army and he is deployed to kosovo (it\'s between serbia and macedonia) From the start I knew that it was going to be a long journey for us...especially me. I personally did not believe in a long distance relationship. I went through really broken, empty relationships before I met eric. when we both decided to be in a formal relationship I was in south korea and he was in california. I was basically all the across other side of the world. we would keep our communication through messenger and facebook for 3 months. when I returned back to states to go to college things became tougher. I had to be in Minnesota to attend college and he was still in california in training. we never really got to see each other. he flew out to see me and i flew out to see him. we only saw each other 2 times during period of 6 months. The last time I got to spend time with him was during christmas vacation. I did not want the moment to come. I did not want him to go farther away. As i was counting down days until he had to leave I couldn\'t help feeling as if my heart was breaking into pieces. I started to almost regret it because I never wanted to be hurt again. But through the difficult times I realized how strong our love is and distance can truly help both people to be more mature and their love to grow into a solid, eternal one. Even though he\'s far away I couldn\'t be more happy. I cherish him with my heart and I smile away my fears and sadness by reminding myself that there will be a day when we don\'t have to be apart.

This is a great conclusion... If there is a potential for such feelings, long distance can only develop it. This line of yours really has given me hope, which I'm looking for, as I'm going to be in an LDR for a year soon...
