Darin and I met Howie's Game Shack at the mall. It's basically like a big LAN party that used to be cool, haha. I basically wooed him with my Guitar Hero and Call of Duty skills and fell in love a few months later. He's in the Army and when we first met, he warned me that he'd have to go away to Kosovo that December. But then it turned into going to Iraq in December. Then it turned into Iraq that August (the day after my birthday). I love him so much that I couldn't just end it. He's been gone for almost 8 months now, where I've only seen him for 4 days in between that. The thing is, this is even harder than a regular LDR. It's hard for us to talk about important things sometimes because he has to go on missions and I'm sure that thinking about our problems could be distracting. Also, it's harder because I worry about him getting blown up or shot and then me getting THAT phone call every single day. I can't come visit him, and there's still another month for him to get 2 week leave and come back, but then he has to go back for another 5 months. Most days I can handle it. Others I can't. You just have to know what you're getting yourself into. I still love him with all of my heart, and he loves me as well, and I appreciate how much he trusts me. Just have to keep living our lives one day at a time and see where it takes us, I suppose.

I think we are all have the same problem here...its hard to be far from the person we love and all we can do is to hope and have faith that someday time will come we will be together and live happy forever.

your story really touched me. My partner is in the army and is based 4 hours away from me but it is still difficult getting the chance to see him. He has been told he is to be transferred back to Germany next year which means he will go back to being sent to Afghanistan etc (im in the UK) and he will be lucky if he gets to see me twice a year. its my first long distance relationship which has got passed 3 months. I have been with him a year and love him to bits. obviously my situation is not exactly the same but i cannot imagine life without him for more than 3 months apart. is there any advice you can give to help me get through it and if he is having a tough time out there what do i do or say? any advice will be much appreciated.
